Personally i made a dex/dex whisky jar... (earth based) , really it depends on what you want it to do, i used to see a number of metal pets, earth pets and pets that can learn triple combo strike being used. (note that earth jar is capsule 4).

id suggest looking for something that you like that has elemental or triple combo strike, and use a life core or universe to adjust its upgradability.

I just went and caught a lvl 5x Earth Dragonfly...(w/ pot lv3)
according to the site, it grows DEX...
then during the xmas event, i coffeed it to lvl 1...

didn't waste any US or LC on it..

it is now lvl 61, and it has decent int, decent dex, decent con, and decent luck...
2xxx hp, 1xx dex... 1xx con...

the only down side is that the LUK is an annoying growth...

it can definitely heal at the very least...

I think this is an affordable newbie Pwar pet...

A Must Pet Skill: (when you go shopping for a pet)
Full Heal, Row Attack Spells aka earth elemental, metal elemental, and fire elemental.

Helpful Pet Skill:
Xfer HP, Combo, Triple Combo

Optional Pet Skill:
Recovery, Sacrifice, Xfer HP

A Must Pet Growth:
Dex/Con, Dex/Dex,

Optional Pet Growth:
Dex/Other, Con/Con,

Really common pwar pets:
Fire Robot (most likely token)
Golden Mushroom
Earth Water Jar
Earth Fish (same specie as the dex/dex token fish)
Earth Kappa
freshly caught lvl 75+ golden/earth pet...
Token Con/con pet

It's just depend on what kinda of party are you going with or if you planning to fight Bosses or not.

* Party of 3 Beastlord + Boss fighting = With this party what you need is a pet that have triple combo. Even better if it's dark so you could weaken boss and Triple combo.

* Regular party that require 2+ rounds= A earth wild pet that could do Meteor shower, Transfer Hp, Full Heal, or sacrifice. Best one when you are Lv 71 would be a Earth pudding Girl. Could get a Pudding girl Lv 75. When you get to Lv 90, You could get a Earth Carp Lv 95. Don't bother making one that is Dex/Dex. Since those earth pets have low Hp and they miss a lots. It seem that hit rate depend more on the Luck. So Wild would be best. High Hp. Dex. Luck.

* Fast party that could manage 1 round kill = Same as Above.

* Regular party + Boss Fighting = Don't even bother since it would take too long to kill the boss for just a bit of points.
